About

Run and jump across a painted level, pick up the coins and reach the flag. Along the way: a plank ferry, one-way planks, a crate the wind pushes, a lantern on a tether and windmills on powered hinges.

The platformer is the side-view genre showcase, the game Lamplighter started as before it became a top-down adventure (see docs/lamplighter-plan.md). It is where Sindri's plain 2D path is proven: tilemap collision, gravity, collider authoring, camera follow and the 2D Scene view. It is also the project to copy when you start a side-view game of your own.

What it proves

  • Tilemap collision and one-way platforms
  • Coyote time and jump buffering in Decay
  • Distance joints, hinges and motors
  • Reusable physics materials
  • Lit caves and sliced UI panels
  • Sounds made in the Sound Lab
